BD X Monitor
. The BD X Monitor readout is contained inside a nice module that is positioned on the driver`s side A-pillar. All three functions are viewable at the same time: transmission temperature, exhaust temperature and turbo boost pressure. All three have limits, and these numbers are downloaded into the X Monitor. When any are met or exceeded, the monitor face flashes a warning that can`t be missed.
Benefits of installing the XMonitor: - Operating pressures and temperatures can easily be read with a simple glance.
- The display brightness can be set for driver comfort.
- The peak operating levels can be set to flash warning for safety.
- The low mount does not restrict vision.
Peak levels are saved in memory and can be viewed after a run. The exhaust temperatures are monitored with a Pyrometer probe inserted in the exhaust flow. The probe can be mounted before of after the turbocharger. If mounted after the turbo the temperatures will vary from 300F to 1000F. If mounted before the turbo temperatures of 300F to 1200F will be normal working levels. Select the temperatures that should not be exceeded and the numbers will flash when it is attained. It is hard to have too much turbocharger boost pressure but if you have too little under a hard pull the result can be high operating temperatures. Transmission oil temperatures will reflect how hard you are working the transmission. The oil begins to break down quickly once it reaches 270F. Higher temperatures cause transmission life to shorten, set the limit at the 250F and increase the operating life.
